In a thrilling homecoming matchup, Texas College quarterback Amani Gilmore delivered an unforgettable performance, leading the Steers to a dramatic 40-34 overtime victory over the Louisiana Christian University (LCU) Wildcats. Gilmore's heroics on the road stunned the home crowd, as he threw for an impressive 404 yards, including the game-winning touchdown in overtime.

 

The game, held at LCU's Wildcat Field, had all the makings of a classic. With the Wildcats hosting their homecoming celebration, the energy was palpable. But Gilmore and the Steers spoiled the party, showcasing resilience and grit in a back-and-forth contest that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

 

Gilmore was named Texas College's Player of the Week after a standout Week 7 performance, once again proving his worth. He threw for 404 yards, dissecting the Wildcats' defense with pinpoint accuracy and clutch playmaking. In addition to his passing prowess, he contributed a crucial rushing touchdown, keeping the defense off balance and showcasing his dual-threat capabilities.

 

With the game tied 34-34 at the end of regulation, the stage was set for an overtime showdown. The Wildcats were unable to capitalize on their possession in overtime, leaving the door open for Texas College. Gilmore seized the opportunity, driving his team down the field before capping the series with a beautifully placed touchdown pass to seal the victory.

connecting on several key passes that set up the score. And when it mattered most, he was calm under pressure, delivering the decisive blow in overtime that silenced the LCU crowd.

 

The win marks a pivotal moment for the Steers, improving their season record to 5-2 and adding momentum as they head into the final stretch of the season. “We trust Amani with the ball in his hands,” said Texas College head coach. “He’s a leader and a competitor.
